THE SCIENTISTS - 35TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW TOUR
Punk pioneers The Scientists, regarded as one of the most influential bands of the late '70s are back.
Regarded at the time as the only genuine rock roll band in Perth, the original line-up featuring Kim Salmon, James Baker, Rodney Radalj, Boris Sujdovic will hit the road nationally to celebrate their 35th anniversary in March.
The Scientists had already written half a dozen songs including 'Frantic Romantic', 'Girl' and 'Drop Out' within a day of forming. These tracks were premiered at the band’s first gig at a house party before going to play their only official show at Perth’s ‘home of punk’ The Governor Broome.
However this outfit already breathed influence and would, in the fullness of time, spread that across the world via different line-ups and with the same guy at the front. The venerable Kim Salmon.
The Scientists were noisy with a punk attitude not seen in their sleepy home town, but they loved Rock and Roll more than anyone else there.
'What we aimed to do was look good and play loud, attitude was always more important to us than technical ability.' - James Baker
'Even with the melodic material (most of it) we wanted it to be a bit out of tune but not in an obvious way that it would seem deliberate… these were the things that made for 'style' we believed.' - Kim Salmon
The return of the legendary THE SCIENTISTS - 35th Anniversary Show featuring the original line-up will perform at the following venues
